Taos's crown jewel and only 300+ acre of spectacular
land in the immediate Taos area, complete with almost 1/3 mile of river
frontage on the Rio Hondo. Easy access to both the Town of
Taos and Taos Ski Valley. This photograph, taken from a prominent
ridge on the property shows the view down to the Rio Hondo which forms
the southern boundary. The property continues up the hillsides to
the left up into tall pine trees. This give spectacular beauty,
scenery, serenity and privacy not found on this scale elsewhere in the
area.
The following video will introduce you to this incredible property.
Property Location
The map above shows the location of this property shaded in red. The town
of Taos is at the bottom of the map and Taos Ski Valley lies just off the map to
the left. Gallina Canyon and Deer Mesa Roads provide access with the tract
sitting just to the west of the Deer Mesa Subdivision. The Rio Hondo forms
the southern boundary of the property. From there it extends back over
1.75 miles.
The Map to the left shows the various different
regions of the property. Each has its own unique and
incredibly beautiful feel. All of them are private and
pristine.
The video tour and still pictures follow the
property from the south (the bottom of the map) moving north.
The shots from across the valley are taken from the Valdez Rim
Road shown on this map.
This topographic map also shows the range of elevation on the
property. The southwest corner is the bottom of the
property and lies at an elevation of approximately 7,250 feet.
The opposite corner is the high point sitting at approximately
7,750 feet.

View From Across the Valley
The best place to get a feel for the property is from across the "Gates of
Valdez" looking from the Valdez Rim Road towards the north. The property
includes this spectacular promontory seen here as well as river frontage below
it. It extends almost two miles back towards the forested mountains
behind.
Rio Hondo Frontage
Lush riverside meadows along the Rio Hondo lie between the river and cliffs.
Here cotton wood trees line the Rio Hondo as it passes between canyon walls on
its trip from Wheeler Peak (New Mexico's highest mountain), past Taos Ski
Valley, through the community of Valdez and through this property before
continuing on to join the Rio Grande near Arroyo Hondo. Nature lovers,
fishermen, and anyone else who loves the outdoors will treasure this exquisite
spot. Nearly 9 acres of buildable land sits in this area.
The adjoining cliffs and canyon walls shelter this area with privacy and
contrast beautifully with the grassy land below.
Promontory overlooking the river
The many panoramic views from the promontory compete for your attention.
Imagine this view to the west with the sun setting over the distant Rio Grande
Gorge and distant mountains. Or, don't just imagine, make it yours.
The equally impressive view to the east includes the verdant hamlet of Valdez
beneath the Valdez Rim with Taos Mountain and El Salto Peak in the distance.
In this view you see the river as it approaches the property from Taos Ski
Valley and Valdez.
Rolling Piñon covered hills
Midway up the property, the trail crosses a mixture of rolling hills and
relatively flat mesa land containing piñon and juniper trees along with sage
brush. The combination of the trees and terrain give this area incredible
privacy yet terrific mountain vistas. While no neighbors are visible, you
may be able to see the lights of Taos at night in the distance.
Tall Ponderosas
Gallina Creek and several other seasonal creeks cross the northern reaches of
the property near its top. Here tall Ponderosa pines dominate the
landscape and provide a cool mountain feel. At certain times of the year, you
will hear water rushing through them.
